Tail of the Dragon

Each November with our shorter hours at the gallery I like to enjoy a bit of time away. This year I chose a 5-day solo motorcycle ride with the thought of heading south. Having heard stories of the Tail of the Dragon on the Cherohala Skyway in Graham County, NC. The 318 curves in 11 miles is a mecca for driders looking for twisties. I figured it onto my 6 state, 3000 mi. loop.

I revisited fall colors, saw few other riders and braked hard for a hand painted sign reading Pottery and Cheese. I rode the Tail of the Dragon 3 three times that weekend while enjoying hundreds of other beautiful miles scattered throughout The Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky. I arrived home knowing two things. The trip was too short and I will be going back.

Using Susan's HD Flip video attached to my handlebars I captured a bit of the mesmerizing rhythm of the road. Enjoy the video...I am always looking for riding buddies!

  1. OMG... I need Dramamine. I am astounded at those twists and turns and I'm so glad the deer at 2:31 stayed on the side of the road. Great video and music... too. bravo. Happy Thanksgiving to all at TFP

  2. Great video, Robyn! This sure brought back memories of when I rode through the twists and turns. The views looked wonderful. Go figure, you would have to meet a semi on one of those turns! Glad to hear you had a good trip.
